Large and complex metal spear point, Zambia or Angola, superbly smithed (WRG)

This very fine hand beaten point consists of a leaf shaped blade above three large barbs with a barley sugar stick twisted haft and a pointed tang. The top half of the tang is wrapped in an iron band. (I am assuming that this weapon was used at close quarters, and the purpose of the barbs was to prevent the opponent from grabbing it). I am informed by those who collect spears that this type of ornately worked and wrapped point is associated with the area between Southern and Central Africa and it is likely to have originated in Zambia or Angola. Length 43 cm / 17 inches
