Beaded basket for betel chewing equipment, West Timor (ASJ)

This little basket would have been made to carry spare change, tobacco, pepper leaves and betel nuts (but not crushed lime, which would have been in a separate container). It is constructed on a woven rattan basket, covered in red trade cloth and beautifully beaded. This is not an old piece, but the design is completely traditional and I have seen photographs of much older pieces. Height 10 cm / 4 inches.
