Old North Indian wealth necklace of 25 paise coins (TSJ)

This necklace is made of more than 60 x 25 paise coins datign form the 1950s 1960s, each soldered onto a silver ring and strung on a hand-rolled cloth cord. 25 paise was a quarter of a rupee, so 60 coins would have represented 14 rupees, a sizeable lump sum for a peasant farmer and his family. Beautiful handwork in a dying tradiiton. Lenth of coined area only 38 cm / 15 inches.
