A very well carved figural gope board, circa 1960, carved in the Kerewa-speaking area to the west of the Purari Delta. The large head, with its round eyes and tear drop eye sockets and small vee-shaped mouth sits above a diminutive body with geometric patterning and quite small arms and legs in the typical hocker position, all conforming to the Goaribari style. Condition: Excellent, although there has been some loss of the white lime pigment. Size 92 x 25.5 cm.
